Eco Responsibility

Our Planet
The Earth is becoming increasingly strained. Since the existence Neolithic settlements, the Earth has warmed exponentially, resources have been depleted and the interconnected system of the Earth has not been in equilibrium. The Human race have discovered the finite nature of the planet a little too late. We must actively become stewards of the Earth and take responsibility for the harm we have caused to our environment. MoreYoga accepts this responsibility and strive to be environmentally friendly.

Plastic Free Studios
8 million tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year. This is extremely detrimental to sea life by way of bioaccumulation; this could cause ecosystems to collapse, permanent damage to fisheries and cause sea water to become chemically harmful. That is why we have removed any presence of single use plastic from our studios. Plastic soap bottles have been replaced with refillable soap dispensers. We have replaced all plastic mat cleaning products with reusable metal spray bottles. With over 200,000 visits last year (2017) we also actively encourage our members to use reusable water bottles and alert them to the importance of sustainability.

Waste Management
At MoreYoga, we are keen to reduce our waste output; with relatively low levels already, we want to ensure that any waste that is produced is done so in an eco-friendly/beneficial manner. That is why we have implemented Mixed Recycling and General Waste bins to each of our studios. Any waste produced that cannot be recycled will not go to a landfill site, instead it will be incinerated and used to power homes.

Disposal of Materials
At MoreYoga we are conscious of where our non-recyclable materials go – yoga mats, cleaning cloths, etc. We have reviewed whether these materials are suitable for the environment. Our yoga mats are made out of rubber – when in need of replacement, they will be donated to charities such as Crisis or tire replacement companies. In the future, the current microfibre cloths in use will be replaced with biodegradable bamboo cloths. When a biodegradable yoga mat of a high quality is manufactured we will replace all of our current yoga mats with them.
